Court employees unionize in Carbon

Fourteen Carbon County court-related employees have formed a union.
Last week, eligible court professional officials from the county offices of Domestic Relations, Juvenile Probation, and Adult Probation, met with the Pennsylvania Labor Relations Board and voted to form a union under the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) District Council 87, AFL-CIO.

The group initially requested permission to form a union on Jan. 20, when it filed a petition under the Public Employee Relations Act with the Pennsylvania Labor Relations Board.
In the petition, which requests representation by a union, it states that "all professional court-appointed employees including, but not limited to Adult and Juvenile Probation Officer I and II, Deputy Chief Officers, Domestic Relation Support Representative, Domestic Relation Specialist I and II, and Enforcement Officers" would be included and able to join a union
